Inside the CD booklet KRS-One gives shoutouts to additional producers who worked on the LP but whose songs didn't make the final cut. The names are Pete Rock, Freddie Foxxx, Kenny Parker brother of KRS, DJ S&S, Kenny Dope, Kid Capri and Domingo. KRS-One EMCEE, TEACHA & PHILOSOPHER. Appearing on the rap scene in 1986 as Boogie Down Productions releasing his first hit single South Bronx with his late DJ Scott La Rock, KRS the one made it clear that Hip Hop was going to have to take itself a lot more seriously than simply being a music genre. For his second solo album, KRS-One worked with a variety of younger hip-hop talents, perhaps in an attempt to resuscitate his street credibility and his commercial standing. Featuring appearances by Das EFX, Mad Lion, Fat Joe, and Channel Live, KRS-One is loaded with fresh talent of the first rank and they help spark the Teacher into giving an inspired performance. The album also showcases a bit fuller production than Return of the Boom Bap, but that doesn't mean he has sold it out - it just means he's continuing to experiment, which is one of the reasons KRS-One remained a vital ar.
